Anna Furse

Anna has been creating an interactive online tool about her training methodology which, when complete will be housed online at the Goldsmiths, University of London. During the Lab she was exploring how to best articulate and catalogue her approach to training.

In addition, during the Lab Anna returned to her basic design principles – based in Bauhaus – that inform a sense of space, form, contrast, colour and the figure in order to inform the creation of new work.

As part of the articulation models and strategies of the Lab Anna developed The Salon – a discourse structurer.

The Salon allows individuals to discuss in depth particular issues or items within a social structure (the different courses of an evening meal) in order to contain and deepen the discussion. The Salon was then adapted by Lab members for a seminar at Dance4 NottDance (2006).

Anna Furse trained at the Royal Ballet, then Peter Brook’s CIRT(Paris) and Grotowski’s Teatr Laboratorium in the 1970s. She is an award-winning director/writer of over 50 productions touring Europe, Asia and the USA and Senior Lecturer at Goldsmiths, University of London.
