Creative Articulations Process (CAP) is an approach that supports artists/practitioners/students/scholars interested in deepening their awareness in/of creative processes.
CAP is multifaceted and incorporates Preparations, a Ground Form and an Expanded Form. The process is arranged across six facets – from Opening to Outwarding – and accompanying strategies. It seeks to enable dual awareness with the aim of ‘giving voice’ to artistic practice.
We have developed this model over a period of about fifteen years in the Choreographic Lab, and also prior to this as part of our teaching in Higher Education. The work arises from exploratory work with other artists, and with generous support from Arts Council England (see Archive 2005-2008), when we worked to develop particular strategies for bringing dance and movement based performance into language.
Since this time we have made CAP available in a published form and offered workshops / intensives for artist / researchers to explore this process in many inter/national contexts. Through this work we are committed to facilitating practitioners to become fluent in and about their dancing and dance making processes, that are perhaps at times experienced as hidden or ‘lost’ as physical, emotional, intuitive and perhaps even ineffable activities.
